Hi guys.
Many of you have noticed that not much has been happening here recently. Thank you for your messages and emails. It means a lot, actually, just knowing people were paying attention.
The lack of posts was a combination of many things: Nanowrimo and my laptop dying were large parts of it.
There are other things too. My life is about to get a little bit crazy and I need to hand over a few things in my life. I decided that Deconstructing Glee would be one of those things. I feel like the landscape for discussing Glee in a thoughtful way has changed, and so many people are writing more interesting and more intelligent things than I could possibly manage. You know, I started this website to begin a conversation. That conversation is happening on Twitter and Tumblr and other WordPress blogs all the time now. And that’s amazing.
Initially, the idea was to simply quit, but several really amazing people have been kind enough to offer to help, and I’m delighted with that, because I do love the little community we have here.
And so, Deconstructing Glee is changing, and I believe it will be for the better.
For the midterm, I am still in charge — so that means that the ethos of DG will remain in place while it grows.
And we are looking for people to help. Our core team is still short a few members and we’re also looking for people who would like to contribute on a regular or ad hoc basis.
Overall, we’re looking for people with a variety of talents to offer who want to make Deconstructing Glee better than it ever was. If you’re interested in helping in any area of running the website, contributing posts or helping build our community please let us know. And if you know anyone out there who might be interested, please share this post with them. Also, even if you’ve contributed before, if you’re still interested, please get in touch.

If we get enough people, we won’t have to resort to blackmail.*
And for everyone else, you can expect Deconstructing Glee to reappear in January. We just started our hiatus a little early this year.
*we will not resort to blackmail.
Thanks for letting us know, DeconGlee.
I certainly would like to help with the site. I’m in the middle of a move and some other big changes, so I don’t know how much time I’ll be able to give yet, but I’ll be in touch in early ’13. (Obvs I tend to have a lot of thoughts on this show.) Take care.
Do get in touch when you can. I’m sure we’ll still be very much finding our feet! :))
I just want to thank you for this blog. It was my entryway into the Glee fandom and I have learned a lot from the discussions, especially about gender issues. Sometimes the discussion got a little too intense for me – they don’t call us “fans”, i.e. fanatics, for nothing! – but I am the richer for it. Best of luck.
