Ableism – Artie and his chair

Artie I actually don’t have an opinion on this. Or, I guess I feel like I don’t have enough information to form one.

It’s just something I’ve seen questioned before — why didn’t they hire an actor who is confined to a wheelchair to perform Artie’s part?

I’m almost cirtain they auditioned both disabled and able-bodied people for the role. (I know I heard this mentioned in an article/interview at some point, but I can’t link it, since I forgot exactly where. Sorry) They went for who they did because he could both act and sing along with fitting the role.
